Welcome
to the Division of Psychological Services, a dynamic
and integral part of Miami-Dade County Public
Schools (M-DCPS). With over 250 school
psychologists providing outstanding services to
students Pre-Kindergarten to 12th grade,
our division is working hard to serve you.
The
Division of Psychological Services is committed to
ensuring that policies and procedures for programs
and services are the highest quality available for
the children of Miami-Dade County. Through the use
of state of the art technology, quality training
programs for school psychologists, teachers, and
support personnel, school psychologists assist in
providing outstanding assessments and consultation
services for students who are experiencing academic
and/or behavior problems.
To
date, over 49% of our school psychologists are
proficient in another language, which include
Spanish (encompassing the majority of our bilingual
staff), Haitian-Creole, French, Russian, Portuguese,
Korean, Hebrew, Jamaican Patois, Hindi, Japanese,
and American Sign. Currently, our school
psychologists are assigned to Regional Centers,
Special Programs, or the District Office. They fill
an impressive variety of positions:

Traditional (consultation and assessment);

Clinical services to emotionally handicapped
students;

Diagnostics for Child Find;

Support services for alternative education programs;

Crises intervention support; and
-
Specialized consultations and assessments for
students with low-incidence handicapping
conditions (e.g., Traumatic Brain Injury,
Autism/Asperger's Syndrome, Visually Impaired).
